It is with a heavy heart that we sadly lost a member of staff last week.

Simon Bradley has been with us for almost 3 years, many of you will not know who he is, but he has been scanning all of the drawings week in week out in that time.

Simon Bradley

As you know there are conservatively over 1,000,000 drawings to scan, Simon has scanned over 97,000 now (gutted that he did not make the 100,000!).

The drawings are destroyed after scanning so they do not fall into the wrong hands, but every week Simon would appear with a bunch of drawings under his arm that he would squirrel away and hide in various parts of the building here at Witney because ‘they were just too good to dispose of’.

Simon has also got through 3 irons (Morphy Richards I think) and 1 ironing board as some of the drawings were in a very poor state and needed to be pressed before scanning.

He will be greatly missed but he was like a kid in a sweet shop working through these drawings so we console ourselves that he spent his last few years in a very happy place.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
