The project began in 2018 when David Kingerley of Longbridge Motor Spares discovered the tooling among the assets of Earlpart, a well-known spare parts company he had acquired. After offering the 1100 Club the tooling, the club decided to take on the challenge despite uncertainties about its condition.

The club partnered with a traditional British engineering firm to refurbish and operate the tooling. Transporting the heavy, bulky equipment to the press company was a significant task, but the initial assessment was positive. Following extensive cleaning and setup, the club approved a production run of offside wings, which are rarer than nearside wings. Unexpectedly, the tooling produced parts for both offside and nearside wings simultaneously, leading the club to manufacture complete sets of wings.

The panels, now available for purchase, are painted in high-quality primer to ensure longevity. The 1100 Club offers discounts to members but welcomes non-members to purchase and join the club. Chairman Robbie expressed pride in the club’s achievement, highlighting the significance of using original BMC tooling and supporting British manufacturing.
